This week has been a rinse and repeat from a bodybuilding perspective. No changes as a result of having a pretty hectic personal/work life. Sometimes I find it frustrating juggling a ‘normal’ career and bodybuilding – but its important to remember it will only hinder your progress if you allow it too.
Last week I was headhunted for a new dentist job – which is great! Starting in may this year (just before prep lol). But I’m super excited for change to be honest. I have also recently started doing some extra work on the emergency dental services through 111. I find it important in off season when you have a little more time on your hands to give time back to other things in life which can be a little neglected during prep – it isn’t really feesable in the competitive season to be doing extra work away from bodybuilding so Im just picking this up now before prep begins!
Time management is CRUCIAL when you’re running and growing an online business, working as a professional and training as a professional bodybuilder. It is possible, you just need to be super savvy with your time – and not neglect relationships! Which is something I’m definitely guilty of doing in the past. Dont ever feel because you’re not a full time coach/bodybuilder it will hold you back – it only will do so if you allow it and what I have realised is mindset and organisation is key.
Would it be easier to train when I wanted to every day? Absolutely
But it doesn’t have to hold you back – you can still reach your goals – easily – just takes organisation :)
Hey guys just a little weekly update!
So I’m currently in a maintenence/physiological phase impatiently waiting for the last final big push before prep begins in June.
I’ve got my head around prepping this year now – which took a week or so but I now feel ready for it both mentally and physically. In 2022, I put a LOT of pressure on myself to get my pro card – I know many say it, but I can hand on heart say I left absolutely no stone unturned. I feel like as much as there is ‘pressure’ on this year, I am very much entering a completely new arena where I am small fish in a very big pond. I am more excited for this prep now, I realised how privileged I am to be in this position to be competing with the best in the world. This time round I am still going to leave no stone unturned, but my mindset have shifted now, and focusing on ENJOYING the prep and being the best version of me, and being grateful to be in the position I am.
As bodybuilders, we often find ourselves worrying about the past and the future, and never being present in the moment. Don’t forget, whatever part of your journey you are on, being present is something most of us fail to do. This is something I want to achieve this year.
